The Book of Colossians

July 10-11                             
Colossians 1  -  Real Life
“Real life” is a phrase that is many times used to describe mundane, everyday tasks like going to work, paying bills and taking care of our responsibilities.  But Colossians 1 describes a life that is far from mundane.  We have been delivered from the Kingdom of Darkness and brought into the Kingdom of Light and, in Christ, experience Real Life.

July 17-18                              
Colossians 2  -  Real Freedom
The Fourth of July is always celebrated with fireworks because real freedom is a reason for celebration.  Colossians 2 explains that through Christ’s work of redemption, we have been given the greatest freedom of all, freedom from the power of sin and death.

July 24-25                                  
Colossians 3  -  The Real You
All Christians have two natures:  The sinful nature given to us by our parents, and the new nature given to us by God through the power of baptism.  Colossians 3 reminds us that our real self is the new nature, and by the power of God’s Spirit we can live a life of real love. 

July 31-Aug 1                        
Colossians 4  -  Real Community
We are people created by God to experience community.   Not the fake and phony “community” that the world will sometimes offer, but the Real Community described in Colossians 4.
